Ode to a Frozen Pea

Oh little pea so round and green,
My kids have loved you since they were weaned,
So chock-full of vitamin A,
You are my beloved children’s 1-A-Day.

But small pea, you don’t fool me,
I know your secret you see,
I know of your horrid dark side,
And the fiend you are to my tiles.

You love to be naughtily flicked off a spoon,
You love to be spat out while watching cartoons,
You’ll roll with glee off any plate,
And when you drop to the floor you’ll bring 50 mates.

You’ll hide in nooks and crannies of my kitchen,
Places impossible for me to get the brush in,
Then it’ll end up being a hoover job,
And my sanity you will rob.

Being squashed brings out your best starchy qualities,
You adhere to smooth surfaces with ease,
And there you weld yourself for an eternity,
You are the bane of my life little frozen pea.

    The frozen pea responds….

I’ve read your ode Madam Popcorn for Lunch
Which though beautifully framed, contains quite a punch.
To victimise an innocent pea seems ever so odd
You’d have issues too if you’d grown up in a pod!

    Love it Jemma x
